So much information that don’t know what to do with it
Information is not knowledge. Knowledge is not wisdom. Wisdom is not action. You have to be selective and critical about the information you consume. You have to organize and analyze the information you have. You have to synthesize and apply the information you need.
- Define your purpose and objectives before you seek information. You have to know what you want to achieve and why you need information.
- Filter and evaluate the information sources before you use them. You have to check their credibility, relevance, accuracy, timeliness, etc.
- Classify and categorize the information according to your purpose and objectives. You have to group them into meaningful units, such as concepts, facts, opinions, etc.
- Compare and contrast the information from different sources and perspectives. You have to look for similarities, differences, patterns, trends, etc.
- Summarize and communicate the information in a clear and concise way. You have to use appropriate formats, such as reports, presentations, charts, etc.
- Act on the information in a timely and effective way. You have to use it to make decisions, solve problems, improve processes, etc.
